Just because you may be reaching an older age does not mean you must give up on your oral health. Your teeth can function effectively for a lifetime if you are willing to put forth the effort necessary to take care of them. Helpful habits include brushing and flossing daily as well as visiting your dentist for regular checkups and bi-annual cleanings. Your smile can shine for a lifetime if you are willing to take the effort to care for it.

Eating a healthy diet can ensure your teeth will last a lifetime. Stay away from products that can harm your teeth, including acidic foods and sugary substances. Your teeth may weaken as you age, so you should limit or eradicate foods from your diet that can easily crack or fracture your teeth, including hard candies and corn on the cob. Furthermore, stop dangerous habits to your oral health such as smoking tobacco and using drugs.

Often times the most important routine you can use to improve your oral health and keep your teeth strong for a lifetime is your daily habits of brushing and flossing.  The ADA, also known as the American Dental Association recommends that you brush your teeth twice per day for about two minutes per session, and floss every day for at least two to three minutes per session. Take the time go slowly and reach all areas in your mouth for a full clean each day.
