Do you want to protect your smile this lacrosse season? If so, our dentists, Dr. Dan Ray Clagett and Dr. Lindsey Milby, are happy to hear it. Unfortunately, there are many things that can affect your smile and oral health while you play, and it’s very important to care for and protect your teeth and gums regularly. To help you do so, our dentist has some tips for you. For a top-notch smile and oral health, it’s best to do the following things:

-Drink water instead of sports drinks: Sports drinks are loaded with sugar. Sugar promotes cavities. So, it’s best to avoid sports drinks and drink water instead. If you need to drink sports drinks, make sure to rinse with water and clean your teeth when you can.

-Wear a mouthguard: A mouthguard is a handy and reliable appliance that can protect your teeth when hard objects hit the mouth. As you play and wear the mouthguard, you can prevent knocked-out teeth, chipped teeth and more.

-Keep up with oral hygiene: Brushing every morning and night, flossing and rinsing daily, and visiting your dentist every six months can help you have the healthy smile you deserve. These things can give you the strong teeth and gums you need during the season.
